Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art
Lebanese artist Saloua Raouda Choucair was influenced by a variety of disciplines, such as mathematics, science and modern architecture, in addition to concepts of infinitude found in Sufism and geometric forms. This large-scale sculptural work is heavily inspired by the composition of Arabic poetry – it exemplifies Choucair’s iconic technique of deconstructing its structure using the visual language of architecture through building and assembly.
Infinite Structure comprises twelve individual wood blocks placed on top of one another, in which each block can stand on its own as a stanza or formulate a poem when grouped.
