Corinthian Football Club was an English amateur football team based in London. It was founded in September 1882 and remained active until 1939, when it merged with Casuals FC.
Regarded as the best team in the world in the early 20th century, Corinthians is credited with popularising football, as the club toured in many countries around the world and supplied many players to the England Football team.
This sepia photograph with a hand-tinted blue background includes many famous footballers of the time. The Corinthian Football Club adhered to and promoted the principles of amateurism, fair play and sportsmanship.
