The official poster of the 1968 Olympics in Mexico features the emblem of the Games, a combination of the country’s name and the year of the event. By consistently repeating its radiating lines, the designers created one of the most renowned Olympic posters.

The design shows strong connections with the Op art (Optical art) movement that thrived during the 1960s. It was also inspired by motifs used in the art of the Huichol, an indigenous people of Mexico.

Approximately 25,000 copies of the poster were printed, not only in black, but also in blue, red, yellow, and green.
