1860 - 1869
General Collection
This rare album features photochrom images of historical sites in Palestine, produced by the Photoglobe Zurich company, which uniquely specialized in the photochrom technique. The album is distinguished by a personal inscription on the first page: “To Edith with love,” likely referring to Edith Yantiss (1889-1966), a member of the American Colony in Jerusalem. It includes a map of Al-Quds issued by the American Colony (1881-1934), indicating a connection between the Colony and the production or distribution of this album. The combination of its personal dedication and rarity at the time underscores the religious importance Palestine held to the album’s previous owner.
