3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum
This official poster selected by the International Olympic Committee to represent the Barcelona 1992 Olympics, features the emblem of the Games and was created by Spanish graphic designer Josep Maria Trias (b. 1948).
The abstract, dynamic silhouette reflects the movement of an athlete leaping over an obstacle. The lines and colours of the motif are a reference to Joan Miro (1893-1983), one of the most celebrated artists of Barcelona. The vivid palette also represents significant elements of the city, like the sun, flamenco, and the sea.
Interestingly enough, Trias used the Times New Roman typeface, a design choice interpreted as a wish to balance playfulness with formality.
