1958 FIFA World Cup™ Booklet

The 1958 FIFA World CupTM was the only one ever played in Scandinavia. It took place in Sweden from 8 to 29 June 1958 with sixteen participating countries.

This booklet includes the table arrangements for the dinner of the 6th of June 1958 hosted by the Swedish Football Association. On the cover is depicted the first trophy of the FIFA World CupTM. Originally called ‘Victory’ it consists of a decagonal cup, supported by the figure of ‘Nike’, the winged Greek goddess of victory. In 1946 it was renamed after Jules Rimet (1873-1956), the FIFA President who initiated the competition in 1930.

The Jules Rimet Cup was in use from 1930 to 1970 and was replaced by the still-used today FIFA World Cup trophy.
